How SAFYON Crossed ₹1 Crore in Sales by Building a New Category Around Gym Hygiene
SAFYON started as a professional gym-cleaning service in Delhi NCR and expanded into specialised cleaning products, machines and services. Founder Riyazuddin says the business crossed ₹1 crore in sales within one year.

Most gyms invest heavily in equipment, rubber flooring, interiors and the overall experience they offer members. But there is one question that is rarely given the same attention: how should all of it actually be cleaned and maintained? That question became the starting point for SAFYON.
The Idea Started With a Problem Gym Owners Kept Asking About
Before SAFYON was created, founder Riyaz was working closely with the gym flooring industry, where rubber flooring was manufactured and supplied to fitness centres. One question kept coming back from customers: "What should we use to clean this flooring?"
The question sounded simple. The answer was not. Gym owners often depended on generic floor cleaners, detergents or phenyl-based products because specialised products for gym surfaces were difficult to find. But a commercial gym is not an ordinary floor-cleaning environment. It contains rubber flooring, fitness machines, dumbbells, weight plates, mirrors, glass and other high-use surfaces exposed daily to dust, sweat, odour and continuous foot traffic. A single generic cleaner was not necessarily the right answer for every surface.
That repeated customer problem gave Riyaz an idea: instead of forcing general cleaning products to work inside gyms, why not build cleaning solutions around the gym itself? That became the foundation of SAFYON. The company's own founder timeline dates the idea to May 2025, followed by around three months of research and product development.
From Observation to Research and Real-World Testing
SAFYON did not begin by trying to build a large catalogue. The initial focus was rubber flooring. The team researched cleaning behaviour, rubber-floor requirements and practical conditions inside working gyms, and the first product then went through demonstration and real-world usage testing before being commercially introduced.
But working closely with gyms exposed a bigger opportunity. Rubber flooring was only one part of the problem. Fitness equipment needed a different approach. Dumbbells and weight plates presented their own maintenance challenges. Glass and mirrors needed another type of cleaning. Odour and high-touch areas added further requirements. What began as one flooring problem gradually became a broader gym hygiene business.
The principle remained the same throughout: find a problem, research it, test a solution, build the product, gather customer feedback, improve it, and then expand. Rather than simply adding generic products to a catalogue, SAFYON began developing solutions around recurring problems gym owners and cleaning teams were actually facing.
The Service Business Became a Real-World Laboratory
Products were only one part of SAFYON's development. Professional gym cleaning services gave the company another way to understand customer problems directly. Instead of only selling a cleaner and assuming how it would perform, SAFYON's teams could work inside actual fitness facilities and see what happened to flooring and equipment under real operating conditions.
That created an important feedback loop. The service business helped SAFYON understand what products were needed, while the products and machines gave SAFYON a way to solve those problems beyond the physical reach of a cleaning crew. The company currently brings together three major parts of the same ecosystem.
Professional Gym Cleaning Services — for facilities that require specialised deep cleaning and maintenance.
Gym Cleaning Products — solutions developed around rubber flooring, fitness equipment, dumbbells and plates, flooring care, odour and other fitness-space requirements.
Professional Gym Cleaning Machines — equipment intended to make specialised cleaning more efficient and repeatable.
SAFYON's own founder page describes this development as the transition from one flooring-cleaning problem into a wider fitness-hygiene range.
Why SAFYON Doesn't See Gym Cleaning as Ordinary Housekeeping
One of the company's biggest challenges has been explaining why a gym needs specialised cleaning when it already has housekeeping staff. The difference, according to SAFYON, lies in the surfaces being maintained. A gym can contain large areas of rubber flooring alongside painted fitness equipment, metal weights, mirrors, glass and high-touch surfaces, and the cleaning requirement for each is different.
This made customer education an important part of SAFYON's sales process. The company does not only sell products. It also provides demonstrations, usage guidance and after-sales support so customers can understand which solution is appropriate for a particular problem.
Riyaz summarises the philosophy behind the business simply: "Customers don't just buy a product or service—they buy a solution to their problem." That philosophy has influenced how SAFYON develops products and how it approaches sales.
A Direct Relationship With the Customer
SAFYON has built much of its business through direct customer acquisition. Customers discover the company through digital marketing, social media, search, its website, referrals, direct sales, calls and WhatsApp. The company's products are also available through online channels, while its distributor network provides another route for expanding into markets where SAFYON cannot depend entirely on its own physical team. The company's website currently presents both professional cleaning services and a range of specialised cleaning products and machines.
This direct relationship with customers has played an important role in product development. When customers repeatedly raise the same problem, the company can investigate whether the answer is a different process, a new product, a specialised machine or improved usage guidance. In that sense, SAFYON's customers have helped shape its product roadmap.
From One Product to a Gym Hygiene Ecosystem
The company's range has expanded beyond its original rubber flooring solution. Today, SAFYON's portfolio includes solutions around gym rubber flooring cleaning, fitness equipment cleaning, dumbbell and weight-plate cleaning, flooring care and maintenance, professional gym cleaning machines, and odour and fitness-space hygiene. These categories are also reflected in SAFYON's current founder story and product positioning.
The larger objective is not to become another general cleaning brand. It is to build a specialised system around the cleaning and maintenance requirements of fitness environments.
Crossing ₹1 Crore in Sales
One of SAFYON's biggest milestones so far has been its commercial growth. According to the company, SAFYON crossed ₹1 crore in sales within its first year of business. The figure represents sales generated across its cleaning products, professional cleaning services and specialised machines. The milestone was reached while the company remained bootstrapped.
But for Riyaz, the number is only one part of the story. The more important question is whether the company can turn what it has learned from individual customers into a repeatable business that works across cities, states and international markets. The business started from a narrow problem—how to properly maintain gym rubber flooring—but the same problem-solving approach gradually created opportunities in other areas of gym hygiene.
The process has remained straightforward: find a recurring problem, understand it closely, test a practical solution, take it to customers, learn from their experience, and then improve and scale it.
Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Nepal: Building the Next Stage
SAFYON's head office and core operations are based in Delhi, where the company began its journey. The company now has a business presence across Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai, while Nepal represents its international expansion. This development is consistent with SAFYON's stated direction of strengthening its Indian presence while gradually building international supply and partnerships.
But these markets are only the current stage. SAFYON's next planned phase of Indian expansion includes Bengaluru, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kolkata, Pune, Bhopal, Chennai and Kerala. Importantly, these are upcoming expansion markets, rather than locations the company is presenting as already operational.
That distinction matters because SAFYON's approach to expansion is not simply about putting more city names on a map. Each new market requires customer acquisition, sales support, product availability and, where professional cleaning services are offered, trained teams capable of maintaining consistent standards. Products and machines make geographical expansion easier because they can be shipped and distributed without requiring a SAFYON cleaning crew to perform every job. The service business, meanwhile, keeps the company connected to the practical problems inside gyms. The combination gives SAFYON two different ways to grow.
A 15+ Member Team Behind the Expansion
The company is no longer being built by its founder alone. SAFYON says its team has grown to more than 15 people, working across product, sales, operations and professional cleaning services from its Delhi base and expanding operations.
For a bootstrapped company, building the team creates a different challenge from launching the first product. The founder's knowledge now has to become a process that other people can execute consistently. A salesperson needs to understand the customer's problem. A cleaning team needs to follow the correct process. A distributor needs to understand the product. And a customer needs clear guidance on how to use it. That makes systems and training increasingly important as the company expands.
The Next Challenge Is Not Creating Another Product. It Is Scaling the System.
Early-stage businesses can often depend heavily on their founders. That becomes harder as the number of customers, employees, products and locations increases. For SAFYON, the challenge now is maintaining consistency while expanding. A customer in Mumbai should understand and experience the brand in the same way as a customer in Delhi.
The same principle will become more important as SAFYON enters planned markets such as Bengaluru, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kolkata, Pune, Bhopal, Chennai and Kerala. And it becomes even more important internationally. SAFYON's founder vision is ultimately broader than India. The company says it is working towards opportunities in markets including Dubai, Iran, the United States and Europe while strengthening its domestic presence. The international opportunity, however, follows the same logic as the Indian business. The company first has to prove that its specialised approach solves a problem customers consider important enough to pay for.
Building Beyond Cleaning Products
SAFYON is also beginning to look beyond physical cleaning. The company has been developing technology for gym operations, including its GymOS platform, as part of a broader effort to solve operational problems faced by fitness businesses. This represents an extension of the same philosophy rather than an entirely different direction.
SAFYON started by asking what gym owners struggled to clean. Its longer-term opportunity is to keep asking what else gym owners struggle to operate and maintain. Cleaning products, machines, professional services and software may look like different businesses from the outside. For SAFYON, the common customer is the fitness industry.
The Founder's Vision
For Riyaz, the ambition behind SAFYON is larger than selling another bottle of cleaner. The goal is to make professional gym hygiene easier to understand, easier to access and easier to maintain. His founder page describes the vision as making gyms easier to clean, healthier to train in and better to maintain, with the broader goal of taking that approach to markets beyond India.
Riyaz puts the idea in one line: "A clean gym should not be a luxury. It should be the standard." That statement captures where SAFYON wants to go next.
The company started because one question kept coming from customers in the gym flooring industry. It researched the problem. It tested a solution. One product led to more products. Products led to machines and professional services. Delhi was followed by Hyderabad, Mumbai and Nepal. Now SAFYON is preparing for its next phase across Bengaluru, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kolkata, Pune, Bhopal, Chennai and Kerala, while continuing to explore opportunities outside India.
The company says it has already crossed ₹1 crore in sales within its first year. But its next milestone will not simply be another revenue number. It will be whether SAFYON can take the knowledge it gained by solving individual gym-maintenance problems and turn it into a scalable category across a much larger fitness market. Because the bigger ambition is not simply to clean more gyms. It is to change how the fitness industry thinks about cleaning and maintenance in the first place.
